When she’s not stalking the Weeknd’s Instagram feed, wearing the majority of his wardrobe, teasing her fans with pictures ahead of the release of her most recent song ‘Bad Liar’ and sending secret messages to her followers by way of her Coach accessories at the 2017 Met Gala, Selena Gomez is making country music.
Well, that’s according to American country star Thomas Rhett, who just opened up about a collaboration with the singer, which he oh so subtly dropped into conversation back in March when discussing his upcoming album during a Q&A session at a charity event.
At the time, Rhett was reported by the Nash Country Daily to have admitted: “We have this girl named Selena Gomez sing on a song on the record, and she’s pretty cool.”
Oh, you know, just that girl Selena Gomez. No biggie…
However, in an interview with Rare Country last week (which is no longer on the website, but has been picked up by Country Fancast), the country singer confirmed he recorded a duet with the 24-year-old.
When discussing the fact the collaboration might be included in his next album, Rhett said: “It’s possible.”
“Anytime the country world melts into the pop world, it’s an interesting conversation. A lot of things need to go correct for it to work out. But yes, Selena did sing a song of mine. It’s still sort of up in the air if it’s going to actually make the record,” he added.
News that we might never hear the song hasn’t exactly gone down too well with the pair’s fans:
